The Kern Valley Healthcare District Hospital Auxiliary is an “all-volunteer” organization. The Auxiliary operates the Kern Valley Hospital Gift Shop located in the lobby of the Hospital in Mt. Mesa and also the Kern Valley Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Store.
Most who volunteer weekdays are retired, many are seniors, however, some are mothers whose children are in school, so they have some free hours during the day. While others may work evenings or attend college, they have some free time during the day.
Volunteers help with a range of duties like escorting Patient’s as required by wheelchair, writing or reading letters for Patients, filling ice buckets, filing for offices, Answering telephones in the lobby, running errands for medical personnel/management, working the information desk located in the lobby.
