High school graduate or equivalent required with hospital or therapeutic experience preferred. Must enjoy working with elderly patients with limited physical and mental abilities. Current BLS certification required within 90-days of hire. Under the direction of the Charge Nurse, is responsible for monitoring patient/resident on a one-on-one basis to ensure they are in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces likelihood of injury. Demonstrates performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a patient/resident monitor. This includes engaging them and properly guiding them as needed. The Patient/resident Monitor must be courteous and compassionate and treats patient/resident, family members and staff respectfully. She/he is not responsible for providing direct care or lifting or transferring. (Certified CNAs providing one-on-one care are allowed to provide direct care as needed). Must be able to effectively communicate in English; both verbal and written. Must have good interpersonal skills and interface professionally, tactfully and respectfully with residents, patients, staff, and the general public. Temporary assignment will work at least three 12-hour shifts per week.
