Acute Care

The acute care hospital is licensed to care for a multitude of minor to moderate diagnoses. We encourage a multi-disciplinary approach to the plan-of-care.  Our team meets daily to discuss treatment plans and goals for all the patients in the Acute Care setting.  Management of complex medical problems is difficult, however, with the help of an expert team, we can develop a plan-of-care that extends beyond the admission through discharge and beyond, by arranging for home health services and other extended care resources.

The hospital provides twenty-four ancillary services including Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology and Respiratory Therapy.  We are unique in that our patient rooms have a stunning view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains while offering privacy when necessary.

The recent transition to Electronic Health Record documentation and record keeping produced some challenges, however, the staff at the hospital has been able to adapt and are becoming more proficient in its use every day.

The acute care setting provides a clinical rotation site for Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) students who come through four times per year, and we are currently working on an arrangement with Cerro Coso Community College to provide a clinical rotation site for their Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program.
The role of the Acute Care unit is to develop a plan-of-care, including patient education, medication management and after-care instructions based on the  attending Physician’s recommendations.
