Lake Isabella, California June 1, 2018 – Celebrating 50 years of service to the Kern Valley communities. Kern Valley Hospital originally opened in 1968 housing 12 acute and 12 long term care beds. The district comprised then as today, an area of approximately 400 square miles. The Board of Directors along with the Kern Valley Hospital Administration commend the founding community members on their foresight to provide healthcare facilities and services here locally. Looking to the future, we are committed to carrying on the founder’s vision and priorities to sustain our facilities and increase our services moving forward. We recently dedicated resources towards a community healthcare needs assessment project and expect to share those results in July.
Kern Valley Healthcare District continues working on future hospital expansion plans to meet the communities request for an updated emergency room which will provide our patients the necessary privacy along with a more efficient emergency room visit, as well as, meeting the required earthquake regulation deadline of 2030.
With the failure of last year’s Parcel Tax Measure, Administration has been and will continue meeting and listening to our community to move the Kern Valley Hospital forward for the next 50 years. We are reaching out to our community and ask that you attend one of the open house events scheduled during the month of June. The idea of holding an open house allows those to stop by at their leisure and speak with the individual subject matter experts at their station on current services, facilities masterplan update, financing and potential future services.
