Lake Isabella, California May 25, 2021 ­­– Would you like to work in a hospital or long-term care facility assisting nurses and medical staff?  Prepare to earn your license as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) with training from Kern Valley Hospital. Learn to perform duties such as answering patients’ call lights, serving meals, making beds and helping patients eat, dress and bathe.  As a CNA, you will work 12 hour shifts 3 to 4 days a week on days or nights.  

Kern Valley Healthcare District’s Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) training class is scheduled to begin August 30th, 2021. Candidates selected must be high school graduates or equivalent.  You will be hired as a temporary employee until course completion, and paid the current minimum wage while attending class.

Graduate students can apply for reimbursement for their out-of-pocket expenses (approximately $175.00) after passing their state exam and hired as a CNA with Kern Valley Hospital. Successful candidates would apply for the reimbursement through the Kern Valley Hospital Foundation.

CNA work is both physically and emotionally demanding, and not everyone is suited to this type of work environment. Before applying please seriously consider the duties listed: CNA”s provide daily care to multiple patients and elderly residents, which includes feeding, bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, assisting in use of bedpan or commode, ambulating, straightening room, and other general care as needed.  Candidates must have good interpersonal skills and interface professionally, tactfully, and respectfully with residents, staff, and the general public.  Basic computer skills required.  Application must be received by Tuesday, July 6, 2021. To qualify and participate in the CNA course, all students MUST successfully complete the following: Certified Background Check, LIVE Scan, Health Exam and a fitness for duty exam, Provide Proof of immunization records, Oral Drug Test, Nurse Assistant Program Application.
