For Immediate Release

Lake Isabella, California May 27, 2021 – Kern Valley Hospital is partnering with

Dr. Holly Spohn-Gross and the California Podiatric Medical Association on their First Annual Shoe Drive benefitting the underserved Kern River Valley community.

Our Shoe Drive begins immediately through July 8, 2021. The goal is to provide every resident in need the necessity of shoes and socks to wear, and the need in our community is great.

Lake Isabella alone has a 25.2% rate of residents living below the poverty level, more than twice that of California’s average of 11/8%. In addition to low incomes, many of our residents are disabled. Greater than one third of Lake Isabella residents are disabled, with close to 20% of those also living below the poverty line.

In an environment where resources are limited and the need considerable, it is our honor to do what we can to help ensure that no member of our community should have to go without the basic necessities of life – like shoes and socks.

You can drop off socks and shoes at our Human Resources/Public Relations office between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday between now and June 8. The office is located at 12308 Mt Mesa Rd., Suite B in Mountain Mesa (next door to Grace Chapel Church).

We are looking for very gently used shoes, new shoes, new socks or monetary gifts will go a long way in helping us meet our goal of ensuring all residents of our wonderful community doesn’t go without. Checks can be made out to CA Podiatric Medical Association or Kern Valley Hospital Foundation.
