Job Description

Mid-Level Providers PA/NP (MLP) provides direct patient care in conjunction with the Mountain View Health Center (MVHC) Medical Director to patients of the MVHC.  The MLP will develop Delegation of Services Agreements or Standardized Procedures in conjunction with the MVHC Medical Director according to state law.  The MLP will maintain Medical Staff privileges and participate in Medical Staff functions.  MLPs will see patients of all ages at the MVHC for various complaints and preventative healthcare and document within the MVHC electronic health record (EHR).  Consultation will be sought from the Medical Director and the MLP will respond to directives by the Medical Director.  MLPs will participate in development of MVHC policies and procedures.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains delegation of services agreements or standardized procedures in collaboration with the MVHC Medical Director
  • Collaborates with the MVHC Clinic Manager and Medical Director in the development of RHC policies and procedures.
  • Obtains appropriate and pertinent history and performs appropriate physical exams of patients of the MVHC.
  • Documents clearly and completely within the EHR.
  • Orders appropriate ancillary testing
  • Treats patients consistent with standards of medical care.
  • Educates patients on disease management and preventative medicine.
  • Maintains continuing medical education.
  • Follows the 5 “Rights” of medication administration and reduces the potential for medication errors
  • Maintains communication with all members of the department.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.  Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Consults other departments within the MVHC and hospital, as appropriate, to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the patients’ needs.
  • Communicates clearly and appropriately to team leader, co-workers and physicians.
  • Meets current documentation standards and policy.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner program and holds current California licensure as a PA or NP.
  • DEA Registration
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS / PALS recommended
  • Possesses good oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution and facilitates staff development.
  • Additional languages preferred.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Skills and knowledge to sustain and evaluate competence in the care of the age and type of patient populations served.
