Honoring a Transformational Legacy of Leadership

KVHD Team

A Message from our Chief Nursing Officer, reflecting on a journey of service, leadership, and compassion.

DEAR FRIENDS AND COLLEAGUES

After working at the hospital for thirty-four years, in various roles and responsibilities, with the last sixteen of those years being the Chief Nursing Officer, the time has come for me to step into retirement. This decision comes with a full heart – one filled with gratitude, pride and deep respect for the nursing profession and for all of you.

On growth, resilience, and shared purpose

Over the sixteen years with KVHD, I have been inspired daily by the leadership, innovation, and unwavering advocacy for our patients along with one another. The accomplishments we achieved were never the work of one person, but the result of collaboration, trust, and a shared vision for excellence. I’m immensely proud of what we have built together and confident that this organization’s future remains strong.

On service and leadership

Serving as the CNO has been the greatest honor of my professional life. Together, we have navigated times of change, challenge, and growth, always anchored by our shared commitment to patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and compassion. I have witnessed firsthand the strength, resilience, and dedication of our nurses and healthcare teams, especially in moments that tested us most. You have continually reminded me why nursing is not just a profession, but a calling.

“Nursing is not just a profession, but a calling”

On Transition and confidence in the future

As I transition into retirement, I do so with confidence and peace, knowing that nursing leadership here is in strong, capable, and passionate hands. While I may be stepping away from my formal role, my respect for this profession and my support for each of you will never diminish.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of leading, learning and growing alongside you. I will carry these years, the relationships, and the memories with me as I begin this next chapter.

With sincere gratitude & best wishes for a bright future.
